Groundless Ground refers to a state in which things are stripped of their fixed properties, identities, and functions, becoming temporarily indeterminate. And at the same time, it describes a condition without an ultimate foundation, a ground that cannot itself be grounded.

The exhibition brings together works that occupy this unstable threshold, where familiar forms lose their certainty and objects, spaces, and signs begin to detach from what they are supposed to be. Rather than arriving at another stable meaning, the works remain in a state of becoming: suspended between presence and absence, recognition and estrangement, form and dissolution.

Aistė Marija Stankevičiūtė is a Vilnius–based artist and writer whose practice explores the thresholds between evidence and imagination. Her texts, drawings, and sculptures appear like fragments of larger narratives – clues that hint at hidden stories, elusive characters, and events suspended between reality and fiction. Her artistic world unfolds after dark: in cities emptied of their daily rhythm, among cinematic and internet–born archetypes, and within moments of ordinary life that gradually dissolve into daydreams.

Aistė Marija holds a Bachelor’s degree in Photography and Media Art and a Master’s degree in Sculpture from the Vilnius Academy of Arts. She is a member of the Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists’ Association and an alumna of Rupert (Vilnius) programmes. She writes for contemporary art journals, combines artistic and curatorial practices, and works in the field of communication.

Lukas Danys’ practice includes sculpture, installation, sound, video art and arist runned initiatives. His primary focus is on how technological and symbolic shifts influence our perception, understanding and consciousness. He focuses on the intimacy of space and how various infrastructures facilitate dynamic interactions between internal experiences and external environments. Danys’ work explores the intersections of belief and digital systems, sociocultural narratives, online communities and visual cultures, all within the context of the evolving dynamics of the present-day environment.

In addition to his artistic practice, Danys actively organises Copenhagen based sound, art and performance events like Rewild, Dummy and Taxi Club.

The exhibition is kindly supported by the Lithuanian Council for Culture, Statens Kunstfond & Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme.
